8/26/10 ~~ Patrick is now in his 5th week of chemo/radiation therapy.  He’s finished September 11.  He has lost A LOT of weight, and we had a bit-of-a-scare (last week). He was having trouble keeping food/water down, because of the nausea (symptom of chemo) ..and.. at one point was so dehydrated he was put on IV for hydration & nutrition.  Now – with his appetite back – he’s joking about how all he can think of is having a Coca-Cola (and…he NEVER drinks Coke) — but this week, he’s been eating Jello & drinking Coke.  His voice is as booming & positive as ever.  He’s looking forward to the end of treatments and re-building his weight & strength ~~ As always, he sends you ALL his deepest gratitude for your $$-support, your prayers, your love.

Due to the strong symptoms – resultant of the chemo/radiation therapy – Patrick has been encouraged to let his body rest. He has bowed-out from our DPYP! teaching schedule until the therapy is over (2nd week of September) ..and.. (until) his body has had time to heal and regain strength. We now have a DONATION JUG located by the front desk of our studio. Just a couple $$ – each time you come to class - can help pay his basic living expenses (mortgage/utilities) over the next couple months – until he’s strong enough to work again. Patrick called this morning, asking that I send a special “Thank You” to the 8:30am class (Sat 8/14). You were especially-gracious in your giving – and – he asked me to pass-on that it means more to him than you can/will ever possibly know.

Beginning Monday morning (7/26/10), Patrick received his first chemo. The treatment began at 7:30a.m. and lasted six hours. His first radiation treatment was the same day – Monday evening. He’ll receive evening radiation treatments Monday-Friday over the next 7 weeks, with two additional chemo treatments – Monday AM of his 3rd week & Monday AM of his 7th (last) week.  Patrick is doing very well.  He even taught again this morning (7/28) & I heard from our students that his class was AWESOME~! Update on Patrick: In our last blog, we mistakenly noted Patrick’s first chemo session.  On 7/7/10, he was prepped with the feeding & chemo tubes.  Since then, he has been feeling great – ‘teaching both last Tuesday AM (7/13/10) and yesterday AM (7/19/10).  His chemo treatments now begin Monday, July 26 – every day, five days a week.  For those of you who may have missed his previous message – his contact info is below:

Those of you long-time DPYP! members know that Patrick has been with us for many years – sharing his wisdom & humor as he guides us through our practice.

Since last October 2009, Patrick had a sore throat that just wouldn’t resolve ..and.. last month, was diagnosed with throat cancer.  He has been eating/drinking healthfully & supplementing to strengthen his immune system – and, fully believes in healing energy and the power of prayer.

Patrick humbly asks (from those of you who feel so guided) for your healing intentions and prayers – that his therapy is as comfortable as possible and that he again enjoys full and perfect health.  He also sends gratitude to those of you who have already been supporting him with your friendship & kind sentiments – just be-ing there for him.  If you wish, you can Email him.
